The University of Manchester, in partnership with the IET, BCS and IBM are delighted to announce Dr James Martin as this years Turing Lecture speaker. Dr Martin, a prolific author and Pulitzer Prize nominee, will deliver a lecture on the threat of what he sees as today’s global megaproblems, and our progression, or lack thereof, toward their solution.
The lecture will be preceded by a screening of Dr Martin’s film ‘The meaning of the 21st century’. Narrated by Michael Douglas, the film explores how we stand at an extraordinary crossroads of human history, and how our actions, or failure to act during the next 20 years, will determine the fate of the Earth and human civilization for centuries to come.
