Overview
On 29th November 2006 the School of Computer Science in partnership with Electronic Arts (EA Games) were delighted to hold an event for Maths, Computing/ICT and Science students from across Greater Manchester.
Over the past twenty year Electronic Arts have designed and developed some of the world’s most compelling and innovative computer games and entertainment software.
The event was an educational and motivational opportunity, presenting exciting real-world applications of the science and technology taught in schools. Students were given an opportunity to try out some of EA’s latest games releases.
Synopsis
'The Science Behind the Computer Games Revolution'.
Fred's lecture introduced students to the mathematical, computing and engineering elements that provide the foundations of computer games development. Concepts such as vector graphics, random number generation and artificial intelligence were demonstrated through their application in games such as FIFA,Battlefield, the Sims and a whole host of other world famous titles. With extensive experience in the industry Fred delivered a unique insight into games technology. A memorable and educational event.
