Join IBM in Second Life

What is Second Life?

About this event

  • Date: Wednesday 5th March 2008.
  • Time: 2pm - 3pm.
  • Registration is now closed.

The event will be in two parts. The first will be a 30-minute presentation about mainframe computing in the 21st century. The second part will be a Question and Answer session about Careers opportunities with IBM.

Mainframe Computing may be a topic on which you think you have little or no experience, but the reality could not be further from the truth. Virtually everyday, we all have some level of interaction with the world of Mainframe Computing. This could take the form of taking money from your bank account via a cashpoint machine, making retail purchases on the web or maybe something as enjoyable as booking your next holiday. The truth is that many of the world's largest companies have a System z processor (a.k.a. Mainframe) supporting their core business applications 24 * 7 * 365.

This is your opportunity to join IBM in Second life for a presentation to Manchester students that will highlight the vitality and continued importance of the mainframe in 2008.
