Modelling the Real World: Simulation in the 21st Century
Dr Richard Blake
Director, Computational Sciences and Engineering STFC Daresbury
High performance computing is transforming our understanding of the world around us enabling the predictions from powerful theories to be tested against detailed experiments. For example, how will next-generation simulation and modelling address important scientific, economic and societal problems such as developing high-resolution Earth system models; cleaner and more efficient energy; virtual design of advanced materials and processes for their production; modelling the biological properties to develop next generation personalized medicine and foodstuffs.
