1st Year Student Wins IET competition

Date: May 6th 2009

We were delighted to hear the news that 1st year computer science undergraduate Peter Sutton recently took part in the IET Present Around The World competition.

Present around the World is the Institution’s presentation competition for Students, Apprentices and Young Professionals who have graduated within the last 7 years.

Peter’s presentation won him first place, a particularly impressive feat considering his competitors either have or are studying for a PhD or already work in industry. He now has a place in the global final.

The winning presentation was entitled "Advanced Python Better Code." It demonstrated how the class customisation features of the programming language Python can use used to implement a 'calculation on demand' mechanism.

Following encouragement from a judge at the competition to publish his work, Peter is now seeking an appropriate method of publication for his winning presentation.
