IBM
Graduate Profile: Robert Craig
IBM Extreme Blue Competition Winner
Every year numerous Manchester students enter competitions and internships held by some of the world's largest Computing and IT services companies. The IBM Extreme Blue Program is a highly prestigious internship, and this summer one of our students created a real splash with the Industry giant.
Robert Craig, a final year Computer Science student, was one of just sixteen students selected from universities across the UK to participate in Extreme Blue, which is designed to foster innovation.
Robert played a key role in developing a piece of business software called ESP, a policy management tool designed to process so-called 'computer readable' data taken from important policy documents. Robert and his team developed a web application that allows this computer-readable information to be interpreted and presented in a 'human-readable' format.
The UK scheme was based at IBM Hursley Park near Winchester, but schemes also ran in Ireland, France, Germany and Holland. All of the teams came together at a special expo at IBM in La Gaude, France, where Robert and others presented their projects.
