Building noise in Kilburn - MSc rooms available for UGPublished: Thursday, 18 May 2017
Dear students We are aware that the ongoing construction work in the Kilburn building has at times been causing disruption to UG students currently revising in the School.
We are aware that the ongoing construction work in the Kilburn building has at times been causing disruption to UG students currently revising in the School.
When excess noise has been reported to us we have promptly asked the contractors to cease the work. However the building work needs to be completed and we will only prolong the inconvenience by keeping asking them to stop working, so we need to find some reasonable compromises to enable you to study, and the work to be completed.
We will therefore be making the MSc rooms available for UG student use, during daytime hours. These are rooms 2.25A and 2.25B on the 2nd floor of Kilburn, and are situated well away from the construction work. They contain break-out seating areas for quiet study, and PCs.
Note that this is for daytime hours only, and the rooms are locked at 18:00. If you wish to use Kilburn out of after hours then you may still use the LF area (and there will little or no out-of-hours noise anyway), and you will need your out-of-hours pass.
You can of course continue to use the usual UG spaces during the day, and a reminder that there are other University facilities available for revision and study, such as the Learning Commons, the University Library, and the George Kenyon cluster (which includes 15 dual-boot PCs).
If the construction noise continues to prove problematic, then please do contact me.
