We are still looking for enthusiastic people with knowledge of either Functional Programming or Logic to help deliver a Summer School to Year 12 students. This is a paid role (details below) and a great opportunity to gain experience in teaching and public engagement.
The topic of the school is functional programming and logical modelling. The format will be a combination of talks and hands-on workshops. We are particularly interested in finding people willing and able to help design and/or present material on one of the following:
- Functional programming with lists and tree data structures, preferably in Scala
- Basic concepts in propositional logic and first-order/description logic (modelling relations)
- Use of the OWL API or Protege
Or if you have some experience with any of them above, and feel able to supervise workshops on the topics then please also get in touch.
The summer school will take place in the Kilburn Building over three days on 11-13 July and we plan to hold a preparation session for those delivering the course on 10 July. You must be available for these dates. Payment will be roughly £15 per hour (depenedent on experience) and there are opportunities for paid preparation time. If you are currently employed as an RA then employment must be in agreement with your line management and alternative arrangements are possible.
Please contact me (firstname.lastname@example.org) directly to apply for a position, or with any queries. I am happy to meet to discuss the role before you apply. Please get in touch before 9th June.
