School studentships

UK/EU funding

Funding for UK and EU PhD Students

Funding is available for UK and EU nationals for both the 3 year PhD and the 4 year CDT PhD programmes.

The 3 year PhD studentships pay all tuition fees and a stipend award for 3 years. Applicants must be eligible to pay 'home fees'. There will normally be opportunities to undertake some teaching, in the form of laboratory demonstration.

For further details on how to apply, visit the UK/EU applicants page.

The School also has a Centre for Doctoral Training in Computer Science. This CDT has many scholarships for UK and EU students starting in September each year. These scholarships pay all tuition fees and a stipend award for 4 years.

For further details see the CDT pages.

International funding

Funding for International students*

The School has a number of full fees scholarships and fees contribution scholarships to suitably qualified international PhD candidates. The full fees scholarships will pay the international fee accross the duration of the programme and the contribution scholarships will pay the difference between the full International and Home fee level each year over 3 years (approximately 75% of the full International fee).

The University cannot make any contribution towards living expenses and must be satisfied that the applicant has sufficient external funding to support the required three years of study.

For further details see the International (non EU) applicants page.

*Closing date: Applications (including all required supporting documentation) must be submitted online by 3rd March 2017.
