Before coming to Manchester I studied Computing, Maths and Electronics at A-Level and had a passion for technology. After attending a Computer Science open day at the University I was impressed with how enthusiastic the staff are about their respective subject fields which is why Manchester became my first choice. The course offers many modules covering all aspects of Computer Science ranging from database design to network security. I have been able to specialise in algorithm design and have come a long way since starting the course.

Being on the MEng Computer Science course gave me the opportunity to gain my Masters degree and get industrial experience with a graded summer placement. This enabled me to take some of the knowledge I had gained and apply it to real-world problems. My placement took place at Credit Suisse in London; this well respected investment bank has a large IT department based across the world and supports every aspect of the banks day to day operations and it was a tremendous experience to be a part of this at an undergraduate level.

Upon leaving Credit Suisse I was offered a job on their graduate scheme. This gave me the security in my final year to focus on my studies and not have to worry about finding a job when I graduate. The role will allow me to use my degree to its maximum potential every day.

The University has given me some experiences that have changed my life for the better and has prepared me for the 'real world' after I graduate.
