CS50 at Scale
This talk will present what Harvard have done and why they have done it. We also look at CS50’s online counterpart, CS50.edx.org, Harvard College's first course to be offered on an even larger scale via edX with nearly 1 million registrants. And we examine CS50 AP and our vision for secondary-school education.
The speaker: David J. Malan is Gordon McKay Professor of the Practice of Computer Science in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and a Member of the Faculty of Education in the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University. He received his A.B., S.M., and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the same in 1999, 2004, and 2007, respectively. He teaches Computer Science 50, otherwise known as CS50, which is Harvard University's largest course, Yale University's largest course, and edX's largest MOOC. He also teaches at Harvard Extension School and Harvard Summer School. All of his courses are available as OpenCourseWare at cs50.tv.
David is visiting Manchester for CS50 on Saturday 25th March at The Landing @ MediaCityUK, in collaboration with HackSoc, a student-led tech society at the University of Manchester.
