(ACM) Student Research Competition

Date: October 24th. 2007

Darren Lunn a 3rd year PhD student working on Web Accessibility with the Human Centred Web Lab in the IMG has won 2nd prize in the Microsoft Research / Association of Computer Machinery (ACM) Student Research Competition (SRC) .

Darren's CertificateThe Student Research Competition, sponsored by Microsoft Research and the ACM, was held as part of the Ninth International ACM SIGACCESS Conference on Computers and Accessibility and is an internationally recognized venue enabling graduate students to share research results and exchange ideas with other students, judges, and conference attendees and understand the practical applications of their research. Indeed, the ACM SRC is probably the only real chance for a young researcher to really get a voice, get into the field, and get to know people.

Darren was judged on his motivation of the research; background work; approach; results and contribution.

The first and second rounds of the SRC were evaluated based on quality of oral and visual presentation; research methods; and significance of the contribution. For the final round, the SRC Grand Finals, he will go on to be judged on his full 8 page paper.

Congratulations to Darren!
