Many studies have found that unless information held in human memory is accessed on a regular basis the ability to correctly recall it degrades over time. Studies have also found that a person's performance on a task improves with practice. It is to be expected that these effects will be have a measurable impact on software developer performance. This talk will discuss the results of two experiments which showed that developer performance on a binary operator precedence task correlated strongly with occurrences of those operators in source code.
