School of Computer Science

Master of Enterprise Computer Science

The School of Computer Science has a highly successful track record of enterprise creation resulting from the activities of both staff and students. Our Master of Enterprise (MEnt) course enables students to develop a proof of concept prototype and a business proposal under the guidance of both academic and business mentors. Computer Science generates a large number of disclosures each year and several spin-off companies have been created. The course is run jointly with the Manchester Science Enterprise Centre who play an important role in the guiding enterprise work.

The Master of Enterprise (MEnt) degree is considered to be one of the most innovative courses in enterprise offered in the UK. Unique characteristics of the programme are its use of subject supervisors, enterprise supervisors and external mentors throughout the course; plus its highly resourced Business Creation Unit where students learn within an entrepreneurial community.

The programme has been designed to train and support students in developing business ideas. It will appeal to people who would like to develop their entrepreneurial skills and go on to either develop their own business or work for a company where enterprise and innovation are valued. Many of our students have achieved great success both during and after the programme.
