Graduate Student Profiles: Brenton Slater

"When I graduated I found that having a degree in Computer Science & Mathematics from Manchester was very helpful. The University's reputation in Computer Science gave me an advantage over graduates from other universities and was one of the reasons that I found work reasonably quickly.

I'n now working as a Graduate Software Engineer at Telesoft Technologies in Blandford, Dorset. My main role is to set up systems, test components, integrate systems, replicate faults and develop robust and reliable software components based upon requirements specifications and within an expected time period. I'm responsible for a large legacy system written in C which operates in Mobile telephone networks and have to respond to customers change requests as their requirements change by changing the code and releasing a new build of the system.

My company works in the telecoms industry providing solutions to both large and small companies all over the world and has offices in USA and India, and is rapidly growing. I have been placed in the graduate training scheme which gives me an intensive training along with on the job training and a learning mentor whom has been with the company for several years."
